Bernie

Bernie Meier, Goldsmith

Bernie first began making jewelry in high school in his native England. Silversmithing classes led him to begin a five-year apprenticeship with Alan Gard in London. This led Bernie to produce jewelry for consumers and for film before emigrating to the US. He has been an amazing goldsmith with GSD since 1994.

Julie

Julie Nelson, Goldsmith
and Ruby, Shop Dog

Julie has always loved making things. This led her to study art at the U of M (Twin Cities) where she discovered the magic of working with metal. In 1996 she found a job polishing jewelry and from there began mastering the art of goldsmithing. She has been a passionate and talented jewelry designer and goldsmith ever since. She has been with GSD since 2013. Ruby is a hard working Australian cattle dog. She greets visitors with an enthusiastic tail wag, alerts us to squirrels and takes hard earned naps.

Mona

Mona Wigen ,Production Manager

Mona started her supervising career at 17 and has managed 5 to 70 employees in many different environments. Her jewelry industry career began in 1994 managing a division of a large manufacturing company. Mona also has experience in human resources, accounting & being a grandma! She enjoys cake decorating, scrapbooking and gardening. She has worked for George Sawyer since 2000.

Deedee

DeeDee Ackerman, Marketing
and Kobie, Shop Dog

Luckily the skills DeeDee gained in her 30+ years in graphics, as well as designing and project managing in the Visual Merchandise world, have translated fairly well to the marketing, advertising and sales support world of George Sawyer. She has been with GSD (and the boss’s wife) since 2011. Kobie is a charming little Pomeranian. His main occupation at GSD is begging Bernie for carrots, and PR.

Maureen

Maureen Davis, Bookkeeper

Maureen has always been an organized person. She spent the early days of her career doing technical work in the film and video business in Minneapolis. She turned to bookkeeping in the year 2000 when she realized that balancing her own check book wasn’t exciting enough. She has worked doing bookkeeping for many industries, and joined GSD in 2010.

After 49 wonderful years, the George Sawyer Designs studio has closed for business.  George will now concentrate on creating one-of-a-kind pieces.
Keep up with his new designs on our website and on Facebook @GeorgeSawyerJewelryDesign
